The project “12” designed by Nargiza seems to be born by the land itself. All twelve balls of the installation illuminated the ground in Limehouse Conservation Area in Ontario, Canada on November 1, 2015. We found the Limehouse location a perfect place for a photo shoot. A unique landscape in the park combines rocky cracks of Niagara Excrement, cliffs and pine trees with its bare roots clasping stones around. The woods became the stage for a play that had mystic characters like fairies and goblins. The observer was under the illusion that the balls would start moving, rotate on themselves or crawl slowly at any moment.
Recognition
The installation “12” with another our project “OUTSIDERS: energy is inside” was shortlisted in the darc awards 2016, the lighting design contest established by widely read mondo*arc and darc magazines.
How it's made
Installation, testing, shooting
The installation was made of twelve hand-made braided spheres with 60 LEDs IP-SF of GVA Lighting inside each ball and completed with sheets of fabric surrounding trees and acted as light diffusers from the spheres. Furthermore, in the area chosen for the installation there was a crack in the soil where we set linear STR9 RGB floodlights to achieve a glow effect that comes out of the cracks and coloring the treetops from below.
